nVidia’s new Kepler line of GPU’s has shown that a big bang does come in a small package.  Although not the first GPU manufacturer to release a 28 nm, but they have proven to currently be the best, with the fastest single GPU card on the market with the GTX 680, as well as the most power efficient on the market when comparing each 600 series GPU to its AMD 7000 series counterpart.  Further proof of this is the fact that the reference version of the flagship GTX 680 requiring on 2 6-pin power connectors.

With the right cooler, the Kepler line of GPU’s also has a serious amount of overclocking headroom.  There is no card where that is more apparent than the MSI nVidia GeForce GTX 670 Overclock/Power Edition with the new Twin Frozr IV cooler.  With the inclusion of the Twin Frozr IV cooler, this card offers 20 degree cooler temperatures and 11.7 db less fan noise than the reference card at idle, even with the overclocked specs, which are quite impressive.  MSI cranks the core clock of this card up to 1019MHz, as compared to 965 MHz of the reference 670, and kicks the boost clock, which is similar to Intel’s Turbo Boost, up from 1045 MHz to 1079 MHz, with the cooler for even further overclocks.  This is facilitated with the addition of MSI’s Afterburner software, which allows for almost infinite adjustment of the clock speeds and voltages.  The clock speed and boost clock are actually set higher than the GTX 680 reference speeds and, despite having fewer CUDA cores than the GTX 680, some overclockers and benchmarkers have been getting better performance out of this card than they are reference 680’s.  The best part is that this card requires only 2 6-pin PCIe connectors, is an average of $70 less than reference 680’s, and gives you so much free performance with overclocking due to the Twin Frozr IV cooler makes this an absolutely wonderful value.
