Crysis 3 First Look

Crysis 3 was announced at this years E3 conference and will be the newest predecessor in the popular Crysis series. Rather than just being a fun FPS game, Crysis games, especially Crysis 2, were the stars of PC and graphics cards benchmarking. Seeing as CryEngine is a heavily demanding gaming engine with tons of graphical elements and amazing sound, it would stress even the greatest of video cards. As was Crysis 1, Crysis 3 will be returning to the jungle where it all started, and will stray away from the likes of the city like in Crysis 2.

Setting

Crysis 3 will take place in New York. Not just a normal New York, but a New York covered in a nanodome and forest ridden during an Alien invasion. A secret military group holds there, hidden from the rest of the world in the ruined city to fight off the incoming aliens. You will crawl through the canyons of the city, and as one of the games main phrases says, “This time we hunt them”, seeing as in other Crysis games you would have to fend the aliens off, in this game you are finding and hunting them. Crysis described the setting possibilites as, “Stalk your prey through a shadowy 5th avenue rainforest or wade waist-high through an urban swamp. Cover ground quickly over the midtown grasslands or seek cover in a deep, etched wall street canyon.”

New Suit

In Crysis 3 you have a new and enhanced nanosuit that is more amazing than ever.

Weapons

The main weapon of Cyrsis 3 is the composite bow. This composite bow isn’t your regular old bow and arrow ordeal, this bow features an automatic reload system, PS energy support system, and a full view with attachments.

There are 3 different types of arrows; the standard spear arrow, a stun/electro arrow, and an explosive arrow.

You have more weapons than any Crysis has provided, and you will need them to fight off the impelling alien hoard. The bows and arrows feature the most high-tech military design there is during the time period.

CryEngine

CryTek’s gaming engine for all of the Crysis games is known as CryEngine. CryEngine is industry-known as one of the most graphically enhanced and beautiful game engines. CryTek describes their CryEngine improvements for Crysis 3 as, “Whether you’re marveling at the stop-and-stare graphics, getting lost in the thick of immersive environments, experimenting with industry-leading physics, or making sanbox choices as you stalk your enemies, the CryENGINE will be taking your expectations for gaming to the next level.” CryEngine’s main focus is on the PC platform, but will still look pretty much as good as console graphics can get for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Release Date

This game is scheduled to be released early 2013.

My Impressions

My impressions on this game is that it will just be another beautiful, amazing, and wickedly fun Crysis game. This game, coming out in early 2013, hopefully gives me enough time to build my high-end gaming & video editing PC. I strongly recommend that if you have a good enough PC, to definitely buy it on PC because the looks, the sound, and the whole experience will be more amazing than on a console. With the improvements to CryEngine, it looks like this will replace Battlefield 3 as the ultimate graphics card benchmarker. I will definitely buy this game, I am just hoping I have my PC by then!
