Introduction
Ikea is known for selling the most high quality products for around the house and also provides one of the most unique shopping experiences ever by having a museum-like store where you walk around the entire place just looking at cool furniture. The Ikea galant is their flagship series of desks, that are typically used for computers or workstations. The galant is the choice for many Youtubers as their desk of choice for their computer setup, including mtpflyers, tldtoday, myself, and many more. Let’s go ahead and see what makes the galant so appealing to all of these people and see if it will be the right computer desk for you.

Styles
There are many, many, many different styles that this desk is available in. Ranging in many different colors, orientations, sizes, features, accessories, and price, the different styles this desk comes in are; corner desk left, corner desk right, rounded extended corners, plain desk, workstation, and several other variations of those. The colors provided are white, birch veneer, black/brown, and gray. The two types of leg choices are A shaped or T shaped and come in silver or chrome. There are also accessories that can be added on including a keyboard pullout, small desk shelf, and a desktop tower holder. The one I have Is the Ikea galant corner desk left birch veneer A leg silver with the desk shelf. So the rest of this review will be based around that configuration.

Review
This desk provides a spacious desktop then can sit a monitor and a tower on it, with still plenty of room to spare. The weight occupancy it says for the max I don’t even find accurate because I had a tv, 3 game consoles, and a laptop on the desk, and me, a full grown 6’2 man, stood on the desk to hang up a poster and it held up. The adjustable height allows even tall, short, and every size in between for people to comfortably sit at the desk in a chair. This desk, being only $160, (my configuration only) is an amazing desk. The birch veneer wood finish looks gorgeous. Ikea never disappoints with their products and this one isn’t any different. Ikea provides an astounding 10 year warranty which is incredibly nifty. The frame is made of aluminum steel which provides a durable and supportive desk to hold many things. One sign of a good desk I use is when you have a drink at it. When you sit at a low quality or non-appealing desk or table, you don’t really care if you leave a cleanable water ring on it, or drop a crumb. But on the high quality desks you love, you will never eat at it and you will always use a coaster. That’s how I feel with this desk. Every time I have a drink at it, even a water bottle, it won’t touch the desk ever. I always use a coaster which sort of mentally shows how much you care for the desk.

Ikea galant desk shelf review
The attachable desk shelf that is an optional add-on is awesome. You simply loosely thumb screw it on to the side of the desk anywhere and it’s good. You also need to screw the back and sides of the shelf to it, although, because I have my Xbox 360 and ps3 sitting on the desk, I left them off because of all of the cables that have to get to the back of the consoles, the back of the shelf would hinder cable management. The shelf matches the desk, and does what I want it to, so I can’t say anything negative about it.

Setup
In classic Ikea fashion, the directions don’t have words, just pictures which allows it to be understood in any language. As all ikea products go, though, setup was a breeze. I just grabbed a friend and a power drill and it was done. The hardest part of the whole setup was fitting it in my car!

Now you can see why this desk is praised by many Youtubers and many people in general. This desk has a ton of customizability and will suit any of your needs. Ikea, again, has delivered with a quality piece of furniture.
