How To Use It
To use Mac X DVD Ripper Pro, you must first download it from their website, http://macxdvd.com/ , and pay the $34.95 or enter a serial number if you already have one. After you completed your download, you will need to open up the file, and if so desired (like me) you can make a desktop icon for easy access. Then you are going to want to open the software up. Enter a DVD disk into the DVD drive and click the button that says DVD and has an image of a disk, this will load the DVD into the program. Next you choose what output format you would like, and there are MANY to choose from. There is; Copy (to back up), AVI, MP4, MPEG, WMV. FLV, MOV, Music (audio only), iPod, Apple TV, iPhone, iPad & Tablet, HTC, Samsung, PSP, and 3GP. Select the output format of your choice and continue. Then you can change around a ton of settings like; audio quality, video quality, volume, and syncing. After you have everything configured to what you like, then click the big start button in the bottom right and away it goes.
Functionality
Mac X DVD Ripper Pro as the name suggests, rips DVD’s to different formats, and also backs up DVD’s. ‘Ripping’ a DVD simply means copying, converting, or backing it up, and I must say this product is very good at doing just that. The simplicity of just opening the program up, choosing the output format, click start and it’s off. With the many output formats, you can be sure it will work for you, also with the choice of outputting it as ‘Copy’ easily gives you a DVD backup on your hard drive. The simplicity makes it easy for anyone to do, but all the extra settings makes it perfect for experts trying to tailor the DVD to sound and look like they want.
Is It the Fastest?
This is a little misleading for a title. If your friend takes 1 hour to rip Transformers, doesn’t mean it will take 1 hour for you to rip Transformers. When ripping a DVD it depends on several factors; 1. How long the video is, 2. How fast your DVD burner runs, 3. Your computer. The length of the video matters greatly, which is quite obvious. If you are ripping a 30 minute episode of the office, it will obviously go quicker than ripping Harry Potter 7 part 2. The speed of your DVD burner matters because if your DVD burner runs at a high end speed of 24x, it will clearly rip faster than a standard laptop 16x burner. The speed of your computer also has an impact. The more RAM, and CPU power you have, the faster the ripping will complete. So the question of ‘Is this the fastest DVD ripper’ the answer is based on your computer and DVD.
Price to Performance
As was said earlier, this is only $34.95 , which as far as a program of this functionality goes, is very cheap. The ease of downloading and using this is incredible as well. This product hits such a big market, anyone who is a beginner or a professional, looking to back up or rip DVD’s, to many many formats this is the product for you. The price should not be even a factor seeing as for a product this incredible only $35 for a lifetime of DVD ripping is worth it.
The Bottom Line
This product is so cheap and comes with tons of amazing features and functions. If you want to watch some movies on your iPhone, iPod, or Android, this product certainly does that, as well as letting you watch movies on windows movie player and more. You can even make back ups of DVD’s that are precious to you and save them to your hard drive. This product is suited for the novice but intense enough for the expert.
