Black Ops 2 Rumor Roundup
As all of you gaming fans know by now, Black Ops 2 release trailer has hit the spotlight, and this thing is EXPLODING. With over 10 million views on YouTube, the record for most first day pre-orders, and on track for most pre-orders ever, this game has created a lot of hype! With the trailer being a montage of flashing lights, jump cuts, blaring music, and explosions it would get anyone hyped up! But also would leave a lot of key components that people could miss easily. There are several key round ups and they will all be covered in this post so let’s get started.
Before You Read
For starters, if you have not seen the trailer itself, click here to watch it ! : http://minidigita.com/2012/05/01/call-of-duty-black-ops-2-trailer/ . And if you haven’t seen our trailer breakdown that we did that talks about everything the game is about, and talks about the trailer step by step, frame by frame, click here: http://minidigita.com/2012/05/01/black-ops-2-trailer-breakdown/ . Before you read this post you will need to be familiar with those two posts, so check them out and then come back here!
Plot
My thesis on the plot of this game is based of off the D. Mason finding, and what SGT. Frank Woods is talking about during the trailer. The main character is D. Mason, Alex Mason’s son, and in the year 2025 he is fighting for the U.S. in a war vs. China. This is supposed to be like the cold war, but in 2025. They are fighting over a rare earth material that the U.S. needs, and China won’t give us. The U.S. has an army conjoured up of all the latest technology, and are un-manned robots. When SGT. Woods says, “No ones ever asked, what happens when the enemy steals the keys.” This most likely means that Chinese hackers have turned out whole un-manned army of robots against us, and D. Mason and the rest of the Marines, and other military personnel have to take it back. That last fact is solidified when SGT. Woods says, “They’ll always need men like us, to do what others can’t”. The plot seems very interesting, and blatantly obvious that it is futuristic.
Who are You Playing As?
Many people are wondering, who are you playing as? Because at the beginning of the trailer it shows this game is set in 2025 and shows SGT. Frank Woods talking, and that is NOT who you play as! In Black Ops, the original, you played as Alex Mason in a game that was set in the Vietnam War era, and people wonder since that was in the past quite a bit, and Black Ops 2 is in the future quite a bit, how can the story lines tie together? This is a great example of something that was VERY hard to spot in the trailer if you weren’t going frame by frame, and looking hard. But the watch the main character is wearing that is shown on the image to the right says D. Mason on it. The only possible explanation is that this is Alex Mason’s son, in the future, fighting for his country just like his father. It would just be unlogical for it not to be, seeing as it being another game in the Black Ops series, odds are after Alex was released at the end of Black Ops, he had a son. Now I am not going to speculate his first name, seeing as that is irrelevant, we just needed to know the relation, but the name of D. Mason is the guy you are playing is in Black Ops 2.
Killstreaks
Quadrotor Killstreak
This rumor started before Call of Duty even opened there mouth. It was popular YouTuber FPSrussia, gun extraordinaire, who posted a video showing a real life quadrotor, and at the end if the video in the classic tiny print letters it says “Big thanks to all my friends at Activision and Treyarch who made this possible.” Then the rumors came true when Call of Duty posted the rumor picture that they posted everyday leading up to the trailer launch, showing a picture of the Quadrotor. The rumor was then solidified when the official trailer was released. What this is a helicopter like drone, with 4 propeller sectors, hence the name Quadrotor. It is about the size of an RC-XD from Black Ops, and is controlled the same it looks like. You can shoot out of the front, and if it is like the one in FPSrussia’s video then you can self destruct it with what looks like a blast of a C4. My bet is it would be an 8 killstreak if it is still the non stackable killstreaks theat were prominent in Black Ops.
X-47 Pegasus
This looks likes it will be the Reaper of Black Ops 2. In the trailer it shows an infrared/thermal image of the map, and you are shooting a missile from above. Judging by the short 3 second cut of it in action, it shows what looks to be a curved path to the ground. Which leads me to believe that it will be like the reaper and the missile has a controllable projectile. Another thing about this I researched myself, and you can see this on the picture to the right, is this has a very stealthy look. This looks like a stealth bomber, yet a lot smaller, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this wasn’t visible while using, or just not able to shoot down like the stealth bomber. I think if it is just like the reaper, it will be a 8 killstreak, but if it isn’t able to shoot down, don’t be surprised if this is 10 or more kills needed!
50 mm Canon
In the trailer it shows an image of someone controlling what looks to be like the new AC-130 of Black Ops 2. On the screen it says 50mm auto. A 50 mm canon shot is the highest of what the AC 130 was, but the most interesting part is where it says ‘Auto’. My best guess is that this is an automatic shooting 50 mm canon drone. I think it will be something like a 3 or 5 round burst of 50mm canon craziness! This killstreak sounds extremely powerful, and I hope this will be the Osperey Gunner or Black Ops 2, meaning that you need a ton of kills to get it.
The Bottom Line
This Call of Duty looks AMAZING, and honestly I have never been so excited for one in my life. The futuristic setting means Treyarch can toy around all they want with new guns, killstreaks, etc. Judging by all the sales it already has, it is going to be the most successful Call of Duty ever. And seeing as Infinty Ward is dead, Treyarch is going balls out this game to show us that they are the future of the Call of Duty brand. This could very well be the best Call of Duty, no best First Person shooter EVER! I know I will be pre-ordering it for all my systems, and I am very excited. You can come back here on release date of November 13th, 2012 for all the latest Black Ops 2 coverage, and reviews.
Comment question: Will you be getting Black Ops 2?
I put a lot into this post, hours of typing and researching. I would really appreciate if you could comment, share, and tell your friends who like Call of Duty to check this post out! Thanks.
